Jalisco's is one of the better local Mexican food chains, with a few locations around the Puget Sound area. We tried out Taqueria Jalisco for lunch while in the Seattle Center area, and they delivered a good lunch at a fair price.

The Tacos Jalisco are original because they put seasonned mashed potatoes in with the tacos. While not for everyone, I thought it was a tasty and interesting twist. Their chimichangas were also good.

I was most impressed with the item you take for granted in Mexican restaurants - chips and salsa. The chips were warm and crisp, and they brought two completely different kinds of salsa, which tasted freshly made from scratch. I love salsa, and that made a huge difference to me from other local Mexican chains that use crappy salsa (ahem - Azteca or Las Margaritas).

Overall, it's probably not worth the drive from the Eastside, but if you're in Seattle Center or Queen Anne areas, give them a try. They also have a closer location in Kirkland.

Bottom Line: Great salsa and good Mexican food at reasonable prices.
