78/30/2002The Overlake area has a bunch of standalone Chinese restaurants. Many of them seem serve very americanized Chinese food, which is fine for some. Shi-Lin is better than most of them, and seems a bit more authentic. Located close to Crossroads Mall, it's good for either take out or a casual dinner. We tried the Sweet and Sour Chicken, the Honey Walnut Prawns, and the Special Fried Rice. All were good, and the Honey Walnut Prawns were the standout item. Inside, the decor isn't very fancy, and it's a dim place. Service was satisfactory. One small gripe is in charging 75 cents extra for rice. I know a lot of places do it, but it always bugs me. I mean, are you really going to get an entree like Sweet & Sour Chicken and not get rice? Give me a break. But otherwise, Shi-Lin is above average for the Chinese restaruants in our area Bottom Line: Above average Chinese food. |
