This is the place for soul food in Seattle. The Kingfish Cafe has been around a long time, and they serve real honest-to-goodness soul food. That's what our experts say anyway, and we can confirm that the food is great. It's unlike anywhere else we've found around here The fried chicken was very good, and came with mashed potatoes and collard greens. Yum! Also, the gumbo was tasty and authentic, with whole crab legs floating around in it. An original appetizer we had was the 3-Dip Plate, with the three dips being Catfish, Artichoke, and Yam. They were all fabulous, to my surprise. Also for dessert they have great simple cakes, but they go fast so be sure to ask what they have left. Everything about this place was tasty and authentic. Everything except the price, that is.
In the south, you could get this same food for a lot less money. But Mexican food is cheaper
in Mexico too... good food can still be worth it, especially since it's the best Soul Food
around.
