9/20/2001One of the better known restaurants in Chinatown, China Gate offers both Dim Sum and larger entrees. It's good to go with a large group to sample all sorts of different dishes in one sitting. The restaurant is one big open room, with not very classy decor despite a recent remodel. We sampled lots of dim sum and entrees, from shrimp dumplings to chicken feet. The chicken feet were very good, if you go for that sort of thing. We didn't like the spareribs - they were much too salty. The honey walnut prawns sounded heavenly, but turned out only mediocre. In fact most of the dishes were like that - they sounded good, but were just average. I wouldn't recommend the drive to Seattle just to go to China Gate, and if you were
over in Chinatown there are better Chinese restaurants. But the fare was passible, so you
might want to give this place a try if you're a frequent Chinatown diner.
