What a find! China Cottage in Woodinville doesn't look like anything special from the outside, and even inside the decor is very plain. But the food, oh, the food! This may be our favorite chinese restaurant now! Start off with some Hot and Sour soup - some friends claimed this was the best they had ever had. It was very good, but I personally like Yea's Wok's Hot and Sour a little better. Also, their Won Ton soup was good, but the Hot and Sour was much better. Enter the Pot Stickers. Very plump and bursting with flavor, they were a hit. The Steamed Bows were another appetizer - they were good, but very different from Hum Bows, which was what we expected. But it gets better - enter the entrees! The orange beef was heavenly - great flavor from fresh oranges, instead of something in an orange colored sauce (my pet peeve). Honey Walnut Prawns were fabulous, and the prawns were large. Mongolian chicken was on the sweet side, just the way I like it. Even the Dragon and Phoenix Combination - two kinds of meat and vegetables in a clear glaze sauce - was somehow made very flavorful. Maybe they just put crack in their food. That would explain my craving the food again, just hours after we left. The one dish that wasn't anything special was their Sweet and Sour Chicken. It was good, just not as outstanding as the rest of the entrees. To top it off, the price was inexpensive, and the service was prompt and responsive. If
this place was just a little closer, we would go every week. Sometimes more. We'll have to
make subsequent visits to try other dishes on their large menu to see if our opinion holds
up. But all signs are good that it will.
